Why an Isuzu?
It’s a very strong workhorse.
Where have you been in it?
We’ve been to the Baviaanskloof, Namaqualand and Route 62.
What is your dream destination?
A trip through Namibia
Have you had any breakdowns?
Its 2.8 litre diesel engine packed up at 314 000 km.
Repairs so far?
It received a new 2.5 litre diesel engine and front suspension.
Any modifications?
None
What do you like about it?
Its looks, power, space and good diesel consumption
And what not?
Its lack of speed when you need it
If you could change something?
I would lift the suspension somewhat.
Your best memories of the vehicle?
Our most recent trip with the family through the Baviaanskloof
Will you drive through Africa in it?
Definitely, if finances allow
Any special packing before a long trip?
Apart from the usual packing list, extra spares for parts that could break.
If it were a person or celebrity, who would it be?
A Brahman bull − big, strong and afraid of nothing
If we gave you R10 000 to spend on it …
I would mount a winch in front and upgrade its suspension.
