Into Gamkaskloof, Die Hel

Maiden voyage into Die Hel and back

Our new editor, Albertus van Wyk, spent his Easter weekend on his first ever Drive Out tour ...  then got so involved, he ended up tackling the Swartberg Pass between Oudtshoorn and Prince Alfred as well.

Under the leadership of Douwe Vlok, of Bhejane Tours, a spiritfilled convoy of readers left Oudtshoorn early that morning, turning off onto what is probably the countries most beautiful cul-de-sac road ever: the winding road to Gamkaskloof, Die Hel.

A respectful moment of silence was held at "Koos se klip" in memory of the recently deceased Koos van Zyl, the architect of the impressive pass.

The short clip below was taken enroute Die Hel in, tracing the convoy down into what looks like the centre of the earth.

By chance, half way down, Alberus ran into a couple of Drive Out readers...
