This is a question that comes up often and is very difficult to answer because on the one hand it depends on what you are planning on using the vehicle for and two what you have to spend.

As I am sure you are aware, there are a variety of products available on the market offering different levels of quality and price.
After being in this industry for a good few years now, I can assure you of one thing, in 95% of all cases, the more you pay, the better the quality of the product! This does not mean that the cheaper component will not work for your specific application but the bottom line remains you get what you pay for.
The margins in this game are not significant enough, so in most instances you can be sure you are not simply ‘paying for the name’ like some folk think.

That said, not much seperates the top brands of aftermarket suspension - they are all good quality products; some are just slightly better than others.

Remember your suspension is probably the single hardest working part of any motor vehicle so you need to bear that in mind and not short change yourself by going cheap. It will cost you in the long run.
As I said the real question to ask yourself is, what do you plan on using the vehicle for? 
All the top aftermarket suspension products will improve road holding (especially on gravel roads), they will also raise the vehicle, giving you better ground clearance and increase your load carrying capabilities.
Remember adjusting a vehicle to carry more load or to lift the vehicle requires a stiffer spring, which also means a firmer ride.
In that instance you will also need to consider the quality of valving insIde the shock, because the better the valving, the smoother, more controlled and Mmore comfortable the stiffer suspension will feel.
