Hiluxes, hiluxes everywhere ... with a few Cruisers here and there

The Atlantis Dunes were swarming with Hiluxes at the weekend.
A total 495 Hilux 4x4’s formed part of the official world record attempt to get the most vehicles of the same brand and model together on Saturday.
The guys from the Western Cape Branch of the Four Wheel Drive Club of South Africa made sure everything ran like clockwork to get the Hiluxes through the gates in time.
The first bakkies arrived at 07:00 and the team of deflators worked like a well-oiled (Hilux) engine to get the tyres to the correct pressure for the sand – faster than you could blink your eyes to keep the sand out. They kept this up until the official count just after 13:00.
It could so easily have been the magical 500, but those aiming to get there slowly but surely, did not make it in the end. A bunch of Hilux drivers gave it their all to be there on time, but some stragglers were unfortunately too late.
The 4x4 gees was everywhere and the Hilux guys and girls set the record with a smile.
Apparently the record for the largest gathering of 4x4 vehicles is held by Chile. Just another one for us to aim at – any reason to have a party and show of our vehicles.
