Visa: Not required for SA passport holders
International driver’s licence: No, a valid SA driver’s licence is sufficient.
Inoculation certificate: Hepatitis A and tetanus vaccinations are recommended.
Medical insurance: No
Vehicle insurance: Third-party insurance is included in the fuel price; no document is required.
Vehicle registration documents: Yes
Clearance certificates: Unnecessary for visits shorter than 14 days
At the border post
Cost: Road tax: R50 (R80 for a company car); tax: 14% for goods brought in for personal use (the first R1000 is exempt from tax). This amount is non-refundable.
Equipment: None, but an emergency triangle is advised.
ZA sticker: No
What may I take in? Anything within limits for personal use
And meat? A permit isn’t required for meat for personal use.
