A few months and a multitude of bakkies that did not make the cut later, we are now the proud owners of a 1988 Toyota Hilux 2,2 litre 4x4. Our Hilux-guru, Allan Venter, gave it the once over and a quotation for what will be needed to get it in a 100% working order. After reconditioning the rear differential, replacing the clutch and also reconditioning the prop shafts, we can proudly say that we made it under our target of R70 000 for a bakkie without any mechanical or bodywork problems.
