Ribbokkloof is a wonderful family getaway and an ideal base from which to explore much of Northern Mpumalanga.The hiking trails are particularly popular, with more than 150 species of birds in the kloof and surrounds.
The trail: 
Ribbokkloof 4x4 is a vehicle-friendly route where you can choose between easy and more challenging obstacles. The 4x4 track, which traverses a riverbed, will test your driving abilities before going on the trail. The circular trail will take about two hours, or there is the option of a full day outing. This longer route consists of mainly ascents and descents with some river crossings, which may prove quite challenging in the rainy season.
Accommodation: 
Fully equipped, self-catering stone and thatch chalets, with hot showers, dotted along the river, sleeping four, six or 12.
