Enjoy a Karoo farm holiday on the banks of the Groot River, well known for its endemic plant species and picturesque setting. Glenmore offers game viewing and other eco-tourism outdoor activities. It's a quiet get-away-from-it-all retreat. Glenmore is a reminder to city dwellers of what they're missing. Glenmore is a picturesque and peaceful farm with ample opportunity to relax and experience the tranquillity and beauty that this rugged and remote destination offers. It is well known for the richness of its endemic plant species, its interesting cultural heritage and its abundance of bird and animal life.
The trail:
A selection of comparatively easy trails include rocky terrain, stream crossings and the possibility of some serious mud. The Kudu, Springbok, Dassie, Duiker and River trails vary in difficulty from easy to moderate. The terrain includes rocky surfaces, stream crossings and the possibility of some serious mud on the River Trail. These well-mapped trails start and end at your campsite. The scenery changes from dramatic, rugged mountains to open plains. One is not only introduced to an array of interesting flora, but each trail offers challenges for 4x4 enthusiasts of all levels of experience, making it the ideal venue for a novice to be introduced to outdoor driving. I recommend the Kudu Trail to beginners, but a great way to end your weekend would be the River Trail, which can be a tough.
Accommodation:
Choose a charming, fully equipped, self-catering cottage with romantic paraffin lights and cosy log fires in winter. Meals available on request.
Camping:
If you want to be closer to nature, camp on the banks of the Groot River, in the shade of thorn trees. Also provided are flush toilets, a hot-water shower and lapa.

Glenmore 4x4 Trails

Situated just outside Willowmore, Glenmore is a peaceful and picturesque farm – a real find in the Little Karoo.
This rugged and remote destination forms part of the Baviaanskloof wilderness area, and is known for the richness of its endemic plant life, interesting cultural heritage and abundance of bird and animal life.
Glenmore’s five trails – the Kudu, Springbok, Dassie, Duiker and River trails – vary in difficulty from easy to moderate, and are suited to all levels of experience.
The terrain includes rocky surfaces, stream crossings and the possibility of some serious mud on the River Trail. The well-mapped trails all start and end at the campsite.
The Kudu Trail is most suited to soft-roaders and those still learning the trade. Graded 3-4 depending on the time of year, the River Trail is tougher but very scenic. If you prefer to give the River Trail a miss, you can use the time to explore the rest of the farm or go on one of the many hikes in the mountain.
